Multi-national construction company Laing O’Rourke has completed its two-year, £60 million refurbishment of Meadowhall for British Land.
The work has created four distinctive districts at the leading shopping and leisure destination in Sheffield, each with their own distinctive character, while improved lighting and customer seating has been added.
Laing O’Rourke has released a video which charts the transformation of Meadowhall, the reasoning behind the project, and the extent of the work undertaken.
Mark Lazenby, Project Leader at Laing O’Rourke, also offers an insight into the brief, challenges associated with the project and the results which are there for all to see.
During construction and refurbishment, more than 1,200 jobs were created and SMEs were heavily involved, with almost half of the spend awarded to these companies.
